On the Montecucco wine road

Amiata and Maremma come together in a single land, which offers ancient and diverse flavours, strong and delicate.
On the Strada del Vino e dei Sapori d'Amiata you can follow different itineraries; we suggest one to admire the extraordinary vineyards of Montecucco.
From the summit of Mount Amiata you descend towards Seggiano, all surrounded by the olive trees of “Olivastra seggianese”, from which a very precious extra virgin olive oil is produced. The international artist Daniel Spoerri has decided to build his Art Garden here, which hosts installations and contemporary works of international fame. You then continue towards Castel del Piano and Arcidosso, the most important centers of Amiata.
We then arrive at Santa Fiora, an ancient village at about 600 meters above sea level. Here we find the characteristic Museum of the Mercury Mines of Monte Amiata at the ancient Sforza-Cesarini palace. In this area there are three areas of naturalistic interest. The Monte Labbro Reserve, on the south-west side of Monte Amiata, where the Monte Amiata Wildlife Park has existed since 1989. Finally, the Pescinello Reserve is located in the upper Albegna valley, upstream from the town of Roccalbegna, and is characterized by the intense presence of water: torrents, lakes, waterfalls, streams.
From Roccalbegna you continue towards Semproniano (Rocchette di Fazio-Bosco dei Rocconi) and then towards Castell'Azzara and the Villa Sforzesca.
