Our Life with Alpacas
Our adventure began almost by chance, but with the heart. It was 2001, my wife and I were looking for a new beginning after twenty years of work. Then, one day, on TV, we saw these extraordinary animals for the first time: alpacas. It was love at first sight.
At the time we lived in Chianti, and that's where we took our first steps: three pregnant females and a young male were our first small flock. In six years the family grew to twenty heads, and with them the dream also grew.
In 2007 we packed up our bags (and our barns!) and moved to Santa Fiora, on the slopes of Monte Amiata, where we finally found the ideal space and setting for our alpacas.
A special animal, a unique wool
The alpaca is a camelid native to South America, docile, curious and… soft as a cloud. Its wool is among the most prized in the world: warm, very fine, naturally hypoallergenic and available in a surprising variety of natural colors — from white to black, through shades of gray, beige and brown.
From fleece to finished garment: craftsmanship and passion
Every spring, before the warm weather arrives, we shear our alpacas with care. The wool is selected for color and quality, then spun into a fine 100% alpaca yarn. From there, an artisanal production of unique garments and accessories is born: knitted, crocheted, loomed knitwear... all created with our own hands, one stitch at a time.
If you want to get to know our alpacas up close and feel their softness, come visit us on Monte Amiata. You will be welcome — and probably a little in love, too, like we were.
